Among several contaminants of the environment, nitro-aromatic compounds (NACs) not only
are highly explosive but highly toxic. Nitro-aromatic compounds can be the reason for the water
and soil contamination which will dangerous threat to the ecology. Ecological quality control
methods are existing on the spectroscopic based techniques; however, each of them had several
limitations such as interference, overlapping, low LOD, etc. For the detection of the low
concentrations of NACs would be applicable fluorescence-based detection methods such as UV-Vis
analysis which is high selective and short response time. [1]
The advance of fluorescence-based analysis method directly depends on the molecular
structure and optical properties of fluorescent agent. Considering NACs properties, fluorescent
agent should be also a non-polar compound. At the same time NACs structure depending on the
position of nitro- functional group around the phenyl group (o-, m-, p-) affects to the intensity of
obtaining peaks by the UV-Vis analysis.
The suitable fluorescent agent was developed as a metal-organic frameworks on the basis of
Zn
complexes.
