  1. Aim of the Summative Assessment for the term

Summative Assessment is aimed to assess learners’ success in terms of the learning objectives achievement and reveal their level of knowledge and skills acquired during the term within the framework of updating the secondary education content.

Specification describes the content and procedure for the delivery of the Summative Assessment for the term in “English” in Grade 3.

Subject Programme in “English language” for 1-4 grades of primary education on the updated content.

  1. Review of Summative Assessment for the term 2.

    1. Duration – 40 minutes.

Total marks-16

Speaking task is conducted separately.

    1. The structure of the Summative Assessment

Different types of close and open-ended tasks are used in the Summative Assessment for the term.

This Assessment consists of 4 tasks.

Open-ended tasks require learners to follow instructions and describe pictures in full sentences.

Matching tasks require learners to connect one thing to another.

3.2.3.1 (3.S3) Give short, basic description of people and objects; begin to describe past experiences on a limited range of general and some curricular topics.

3.5.14.1 (3.UE14) Use prepositions of location and position: at, behind, between, in, in front of, near, next to, on, under, above to describe where people and things are; use prepositions of time: on, in, at to talk about days and times and no preposition last week etc.

Open ended task.

Learners write four full sentences using the Past Simple Tense and prepositions of places.

Tasks for the Summative Assessment for the term 2

Listening

Task 1. Listen to the teacher’s instructions and follow them. Find where John is.

Finish the sentence: John is at the_________________________

Teacher reads:

  1. Look at the map. Find the cinema. Circle the cinema.

  2. Take a red pencil. Draw an arrow moving from the cinema along Furmanov Street to the crossing. Turn left to Tole bi Street.

  3. Move forward to the restaurant. Put a tick under the restaurant.

  4. Turn right at the crossing. Pass the school. What is the building next to it?

Reading

Task 2. Read the text about Diego’s daily routine and match timings to the sentences.

I get up at 7:45, because my school only starts at 9 o’clock. I go to the bathroom and then I put on my uniform. I have breakfast with my family around 8:15, I usually have porridge and a piece of fruit. We all leave home at 8:30. My parents drive me to school and go to work. At 4:30 my grandfather takes me home. I always do my homework before dinner. When my parents arrive we eat and I still study a little bit more. I take shower and put on my pajamas. Before going to bed, usually around 11, I listen to music and read a sports magazine.
