The choice of renting a place of living or buying one causes disagreement among people nowadays. Some claim that renting is more reasonable, while others agree that owning a house brings more advantages. The following paragraphs will elaborate on the benefits and drawbacks of renting and present my opinion.
Without a doubt, there are several obvious advantages of renting a house or an apartment. One of them is the fact that not every person or family can afford to purchase housing or even take out mortgage, and this is especially true for large cities where housing is oftentimes very expensive. Thus, renting is seen as the only feasible way of securing a place of living. Besides, people who choose to rent are able to live in the city center without going into considerable debt and have access all the city amenities available.
Nonetheless, it is important to keep in mind various drawbacks that renting could have. Among those is that a rent contract could be broken by a property owner at any time, which could induce a lessee to move out of a rented apartment. Additionally, a person renting housing could hardly perform any renovation or improvement activities in the house since it does not belong to that person, and this could cause certain inconveniences.
With the above evidence in mind, I believe that renting could be considered a viable option for people choosing to live in a big city because it is more affordable to pay monthly rent than allocate a large sum of money to buying a house. However, owning a living property makes more sense in a situation when a person decides to live in a suburb or rural areas where housing could cost much less.
