5. The basic objects of mechatronics’ study are mechatronic modules that 
perform the movements, usually by one controlled coordinate. From these 
modules, as functional blocks, are composed the complex systems of modular 
architecture. 
6. Mechatronic systems are intended, as follows from the definition, for 
implementation of a given movement. Criteria of quality of performance of 
movements of the MS are problem-oriented, i.e. determined by the formulation 
of specific application tasks. The specificity of the tasks of automated machine 
building is to realize the movement of the output link – the working part of 
the technological machine (for example, the tool for machining). Examples of 
such processes can be the regulation of the force interaction of the working 
body with the object of work during machining, monitoring and diagnostics 
of the current state of the critical elements of the MS (tool, power converter), 
the management of additional technological impacts (thermal, electrical, 
electrochemical) on the object of work with combined methods of processing, 
control of the auxiliary equipment of the complex (conveyors, loading devices, 
etc.), output and reception of signals from devices of electroautomatics (valves, 
relays, switches). Such complex coordinated movements of mechatronic systems 
will be called as functional movements. 
7. To ensure high quality implementation of complex and precise 
move-
ments 
in modern MS are applied intelligent advanced control. This group of 
methods is based on new ideas in control theory, modern hardware and software 
computing; promising approaches to MS synthesized movements.
It should be noted that mechatronics as a new field of science and tech-
nology is at the stage of its formation, its terminology, boundaries and 
classification characteristics are not yet strictly defined. It seems that at this 
stage, the identification of the essence of new principles of building and trends 
in the development of machines with computer-controlled motion is of primary 
importance, and the corresponding semantic concepts and definitions will 
undoubtedly eventually settle.
