OPERATIONAL OUTCOMES WITH PLACENTA PREVIA
Resume:
Placenta previa is a pathology, in which the placenta is located in the lower parts of the uterus for any wall, partially
or completely blocking the internal os region. The incidence of placenta previa averages from 0.1% to 1% of all births.
Bleeding in 3 trimester of pregnancy occurs in 2-3% of women. Approximately half of these causes of bleeding is placenta
previa and abruptio placentae.
In normal pregnancy, the placenta is usually located in the bottom of the uterus, or the body, the back wall, with the transition
to the side walls, i.e. in those areas where it is best to supply blood to the uterus wall. On the front wall of the placenta is
somewhat less, as the front wall of the uterus undergoes a much larger change than the back. In addition, placental location
on the rear wall protects it from accidental injury.
A distinction is also low and the location of the placenta, when its edge is located at a lower level, but does not reach the
internal os to 7-8 cm and more. When previa, the placenta is below the fetal presenting part, ie in the way of his birth. The
term «praevia» consists of two words «prae» and «via» that is on the way.
