| 4.4 Stages of construction
Mechatronic modules represent a special class of technical devices, consisting of several components of different physical nature, structurally united in a single unit. This heterogeneity of individual elements requires an increased coherence in their creation. Therefore, modern design concepts are based on the separation of the design process into parallel flows, each of which corresponds to the synthesis of any one subsystem (mechanical, electronic or electromechanical). It is important that these flows are interconnected. Other- wise, at the final stage of the design, the module consisting of the components obtained may be inoperative or may not meet the requirements specified in the terms of reference. In Fig. 4.1 is a block diagram of the process of «built-in design” of the mechatronic module. 212 Figute 4.1 – Block diagram of the process of «built-in design» of the mechatronic module It shows the main stages in the synthesis of the mechatronic module. The first stage involves the formation of the initial requirements of the customer. However, these requirements may be incomplete or do not correspond to the actual capabilities of the manufacturer. Therefore, the final form of the tech- 213 nical assignment is approved after the technical analysis. At this stage of the design, the designer, as a rule, presents the general concept of the future product, since the content of the technical task directly follows the form of the functional model of the mechatronic module, as well as many possible options for its structural realization. Then the designer selects one of the possible variants of the structural model and the design process is divided into three parallel streams.
