Abstract
The article discusses the relevance of the study of the formation of local
lore ideas of elementary schoolchildren about their native land due to the need of
society to educate a person who is able to recognize the diversity and complexity
of social and natural situations, who is ready to adequately respond to changes
in life and make decisions appropriate to the situation.

Focusing on the need to familiarize students with the traditions and values
of their native land, the educational process of an elementary school cannot be
built without taking into account the specifics of the nearest historical and
cultural environment of a small homeland. Studying the history and culture of the
native land is an effective means of cognitive, moral and aesthetic development
of younger schoolchildren, the most important means of forming patriotic
feelings and spiritual principles of the individual.
