| Methods of analysis
The research is based on a survey conducted by authors in January
2021. The survey is a study of the population on the development of a
healthy lifestyle and the concretization of State guarantees of medical
care, and represents the population of Kazakhstan aged 15 and over.
The survey was conducted in eight regions of Kazakhstan.
Altogether, 4,001 people were interviewed. The advantage of this
survey is that it contains a number of variables that allow the estimation
of individual lifestyle components, as well as variables that refl ect
the attitudes of individuals towards smoking-free policies. During
the survey, respondents were asked about their attitude to the ban on
smoking, listing the various closed rooms. At the time of the survey, the
ban on smoking had been extended.
The new code «About the Health of the People and the Health Care
System» of July 7, 2020, provides for a substantial expansion of the list
of places free of tobacco smoke, including covered bus stops, children’s
