cronyism, refusal from the previously arranged deals, which drop the 

reputation of leaders in front of the nation, making them choose a new 

candidate. Elections for Ukraine  turned into a complex battle, where 

one candidate’s victory can aff ect the fate of the country dramatically. 

Conclusion

To  sum  up,  Ukraine’s  policy  orientation  is  quite  unstable  and 

fl uctuating.  National  policies  and  foreign  policy  systems  can  be 

redirected  in  a  couple  of  years,  putting  not  only  partner  states  into 

disarray, but the society itself. This inevitably entails vulnerability of 

the state’s security, mass riots and revolts, violating the internal order 

of the country. 

The  fi rst  thing  Ukraine  has  to  do  is  promote  a  clear  and  strong 

national  policy  or  introduce  a  single  ideology.  Careful  planning  of 

the  future  course  in  advance  could  entail  the  desire  for  a  common 

path among the people. This course has to remain unchangeable, only 

allowing minor amendments. They have to choose once and for all the 

priorities in international relations. If Ukraine wants to exalt relations 

with the West, it has to mainly elect democratic leaders on the path of 

independent and sustainable development, relying on itself, search for 

alternative ways for developing its own ecosystem, fi nding substitutes 

for  Russian  energy  supplies,  etc.  Another  option  is  to  reconsider 

relations with the Russian Federation, arrange negotiations to stop the 

confl ict, being ready for concessions and risks in rebuilding relations. 

Once Ukraine has decided once and for all the constant order of foreign 

relations, these priorities should be protected under the governmental 

laws devoted to strengthening internal stability. 

Preferably,  future  political  actions  should  avoid  taking  risks,  as 

history  shows  the  negative  consequences  of  the  risky  decisions  of 

Ukrainian  leaders.  The  decisions  should  be  balanced  and  politically 

measured. 

It  is  also  important  to  agree  on  political  decisions  and  courses, 

preferably  avoiding  the  switching  powers.  That  means  citizens  of 

Ukraine  need  to  approach  elections  with  greater  responsibility,  as 

presidential as parliamentary. 

The current government of Ukraine (as of 2021) seems to have a 

Russophobic  attitude,  although  Deputy  of  the  Verkhovna  Rada  of 

Ukraine Viktor Medvedchuk claims that the willingness of both societies
