Breeding method. The variety was bred with the use of single plant selection from
the hybrid population F4VNIIR 9531/VNIIR 9420–84 and with the help of reselection
followed in a breeding nursery.
The variety belongs to the mid-ripening group. Growing season lasts from 116 to
120 days.
Botanical and morphological characteristics. Botanical variety:
var. italic Alef.
Flower glumes are straw-coloured, hirsute, awnless. Plant height is about 90–95 cm.
The shrubis dense and erect. Stems are of medium thickness, firm. Panicle length is
about 16–19 cm, with a density of about 10–12 spikelets per a centimeter of length.
Panicle is erect, non-drooping, slightly nodding when ripe. The variety is tolerant to
lodging.
