Caryopsis is of medium size, prolonged, length-to-
beam ratio (
l/b
) — 2.5. 1000 absolutely dry grain weight — 24–25 g, filminess — 26 %,
grain hardness — 75.7–78.0 %. Total milling yield — 73 %. Pericarp is colored in black
and purple color, endosperm grains keeps black and violet color till the phase of wax
ripeness. When fully ripe in the middle of a dark colored endosperm starch white spot
appears, holding up to 20 % of the area. Has high flavor profile. Has a high nutritional
value, therefore, is meant to prepare special foods, exotic dishes and salads with fruit
and vegetables, casseroles, meatballs, and it is good in combination with white grain
varieties. Variety is recommended for processing by technologies without polishing.
