TO THE HISTORY OF ALTAI TATARS: SLAVIC AND
TATAR ETHNIC GROUPS IN RUSSIAN SUPERETHNOS
Summary:
The Tatars of our time are cosmopolitan people. Along with other
peoples such as Gypsies, Jews, Russians, etc., they live practically all over the
world. But the bulk of the people mentioned live in Russia, including Siberia
(Altai). Russian Tatars are settled throughout the country, however, the most
tangible influence and the possibility of understanding this influence are
connected to the places of their indigenous settlement. The Volga region, Altai,
the Crimea have become important platforms for the integration of the Slavic
and Tatar ethnic groups into a single Russian superethnos. This integration has
been very ambiguous and uneven. By the example of the history of the Golden
Horde, we see that the confrontation between the Tatar and Slavic ethnic
groups is largely the result of pseudoscientific dramatizations, European and
Asian countries called Siberia an unhistorical territory. Its history, a cornerstone
for understanding the fate and history of humanity, and not only the Slavs and
Tatars, not only Russia, was rejected. The falsification of history, unfortunately, is
more of a tradition than an exception; the sources testifying to Siberia, Altai and
Transbaikalia as the center of civilization are ignored or destroyed to this day.
Similarly, in the field of “genetic history” of humanity, the positions of geneticists
and their conclusions on the same data are so different that it is difficult to talk
about (accessible to everyday comprehension) genetics as a science. Therefore,
at present, the possibilities of understanding the true history of the Altai Tatars
and Russians are now extremely limited, however, in the future, a chance to
restore real events and relations can and should appear.
Key words:
national ideas, modern, nationalism; universalism, Tatars, Turks,
Russians, Slavs.
