Sales Tax
Cities and states in the USA have the right to charge an additional
percentage of the cost of some goods.
In most places, the sales tax is from 5 to 10 per cent of the price of goods
you buy. You should pay the sales tax for many non-food items, such as

technical equipment, books, records, household products, appliances,
cameras and films. You will pay a sales tax for prepared food, for example,
when you are in a restaurant. You must remember that the prices listed on
items in stores do not include sales tax — a cashier will add it to your bill.
