Relevance.
Artificial intelligence in medicine may characterize as the scientific
discipline pertaining to research studies, projec
ts, and applications that aim at supporting
decision-based medical tasks through knowledge and data-intensive computer-based solutions
that ultimately support and improve the performance of a human care provider.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a relatively
new field in science and engineering. Works in this
domain commenced in earnest soon after the Second World War, and the term Artificial
Intelligence was used in 1956. AI is based on an accurate decision-making process which can
be carried out independently by a machine. The earliest research into thinking machines was
inspired by a confluence of ideas that became prevalent in the late 1930s, 40s, and early 50.
Within the next couple of years, it will revolutionize every area of our life, including
medicine.
Objective.
Artificial intelligence algorithms are making lives easier and safer also in
medicine it increasingly diagnose patients and help make the best decisions when caring for
them. Through ‘machine learning’ (ML), Artificial intelligence is providing
techniques that
uncover complex associations that can not easily be reduced to an equation. For example, it
helps to dermatologists to accurately classify suspicious skin lesions, or gives a reliable result
in works, such as identifying pulmonary tuberculosis on chest radiographs, where many
experts often disagree, thus aiming to make the diagnosis and treatment of diseases more
accurate.
