| 2. The Complex Gerundial Construction
It is a predicative construction in which the Gerund is in predicate
relation to the nominal element expressed by a noun in the possessive
or common case or a possessive pronoun. This construction is usually
translated by a clause the type of which depends on the function of the
Gerund in the sentence. The clauses are introduced by the conjunctions
то что, тем что, после того как.
My friend’s having a good knowledge of English
is the result of his
hard work on the language
