To sort combinations of sub-variants without any plan and method is
irrational. But the systematic approach is not developed immediately.
At first, the search is usually disorderly and only gradually acquires an
orientation. Often it happens that as the mechatronic module is being drawn, it
becomes more difficult and more difficult to implement the subsequent require-
ments in the design. In these cases, it is necessary to stop in a timely manner in
order to undertake a search for another basis for its layout.
As the options are viewed, as the scale-out estimates are refined with large-
scale drawings, the designer usually manages to find patterns that are able to
play the role of the initial criteria for evaluating the layout options. Such criteria
can include such factors as «absence of critical zones», «simplicity of the joints
of the main parts», «combination of functions», etc. What the designer was
not able to do when he first got acquainted with the scheme can be crowned
with success at the present stage in the process of enumeration of options by
sketching and scaling estimates.
The logical sequence of the layout, in which the designer first divides
the original scheme into parts, and then still finds the possibility of their
integration, can be considered characteristic for cases of deep design of mecha-
tronic modules.
