Generalizing: Due to a malfunction in the systems of biochemical regulation
triggered, free radical oxidation gets out of control, and radicals begin to attack cellular
structures primarily cell membranes. Antioxidants, substances that can intercept radicals
and inhibit oxidation, help prevent harmful effects on cells.
Antioxidants as an additional treatment in humans may maintain adequate
antioxidant status and it is a useful approach in attenuating cell injury and dysfunction.
Beneficial effects of supplementation of antioxidant system enzymes
are atherosclerosis
prevention, increase in osmotic resistance of RBC and anemia correction
