Breeding method.
The variety was bred with the use of single plant selection from
hybrid F1, YeruaP.A./Slavyanets//Slavyanets///Slavyanets////Kr-3.84/Maratelli 5A//
Kr-3.84/////Maratelli 5A/Slavyanets//Slavyanets///Liman/Kr-3.84//Kr-3.84.
Viola is the first Russian glutinous rice variety. Its grain contains amylopectin and
less than 5 % of amylose (while common rice varieties have 8–37 % of amylose con-
tent. Grain of glutinous rice is suitable forproduction of therapeutic and baby food for
artificial feeding of infants.
The variety belongs to the mid-ripening group. Growing season lasts 116–118 days.
