Cultivation area. In 2012 the variety entered the State register of breeding
achievements eligible for use in the North Caucasus region.
Breeding method. The variety was bred with the use of single plant selection
from hybrid combination Rapan/Pioner.
The variety belongs to the mid-ripening group. Growing season lasts 114–117 days.
Botanical and morphological characteristics. Botanical variety:
var. italicа Alef.
Glumes are straw-colored, awnless. Plant height is 82–90 cm. Panicle is 14–17 cm long,
containing 7–9 spikelets per 1 cm. The number of spikelets per panicle is 120–130.
Grain weight per panicle is 2.0–2.4 g; 1000 grain weight is 28–29 g. Spikelet sterility
is 12–16 %.
Grain and milled rice quality, cooking properties. Grain is round. Spikelet length
to breadth ratio (
l/b ): 1.9–2.0. Caryopsis is translucent: 92–94 %. Hull percentage is
about 18 %. Total milled rice is 69–70 % with 90 % ofhead rice.
