blast, rice nematode, lodging and shattering.

Individual characteristics. The characteristic of the variety is its easycultivation.
Plants have high growth ratesat the initial stage of vegetation, can easily pull through
the water layer at the emergence stage, and compete well with weeds. Thus, the ap-
plication of herbicides can be optional. Leader forms extensive root system so 40 %
less fertilizeris neededas compared to varieties of intensive group.
The quality of grain and milled rice of Leader slightly depend on environmental
conditions. The variety is tolerant to high temperatures while ripening with no decrease
of grain quality
