In 2004 the variety entered the State register of breeding
achievements eligible for use in the North Caucasus Region.
Breeding method.
The variety was bred with the use of single plant selection
from the hybrid combination ST 101 (regenerant of Krasnodarsky 424)/M 705 (Buran).
The variety belongs to the mid-ripening group. Growing season lasts 114–117 days.

Alef. Flower glumes are straw-colored, awnless. Plant height is 90–95 cm. If apply
the enhanced doses of nitrogenous fertilizers, the height may reach 110 cm, lodging
is also possible. The panicle is dense, slightly nodding, contains 100–120 spikelets.
Panicle length is about 15–17 cm. Panicle sterility ranges from 12 to 15 %. Tillering
potential is high, up to 3 stems. Stems in shrub (main stem and stem shoots) are of
the same height.
