Tolerance to environmental stress factors. The variety is medium-tolerant to
blast. Plants do not lodge but may droop especially in case of nitrogen overnutrition.
The variety does not shatter even in the event of overmature stand, but is easily threshed
out. So it can be harvested by both swath harvesting and straight-combine method.
Yield capacity. Yield capacity can reach 7.0–7.5 tons per hectare featuring high
yearly stability.
Individual characteristics. The varietydoes not require specificgrowing conditions
so it can be cultivated with the use of technologies typical for white-grained varieties,
avoiding mixture with other varieties. The characteristic of the variety is high germina-
tion readiness and effective field germination in the conditions of a smooth irrigation
schedule. This should be taken into consideration to form dense sprouts at a relatively
low seeding rate. Long-term observations of the development of variety has shown
that Mars has negative reaction to thick planting (more than 300 plants per 1 m
2
).
Considering the fact that Mars has long narrow grain individual selection of sep-
arators is necessary for grain husking.
