Breeding method.
The variety was bred with the use of single plant selection
from hybrid combination Prikubansky/Italika 10.
The variety belongs to the early-ripening group. Growing season lasts 100–105 days.
Botanical and morphological characteristics.

Glumes are straw-colored, slightly hirsute, awnless. Plants are short-stalked, 85–90 cm
high. Panicle is dense, erect or slightly drooping, 16–18 cm long. The number of
spikelets per panicle is 120–135; spikelet sterility is 7–9 %. The characteristic of
Novator is dense, erect shrub with 2–3 stalks. Leaf angle is acute that promotes high
photosynthetic leaf activity and stable yield even in conditions of high plant density.
Novator does not form late sprouts which may extend growing season and lower
market and sowing quality.
