- The foundations of cybernetics were laid and its basic principies were formulated in the works of mathematicians, physicists, physicians and engineers. Of outstanding importance were the works of American scientists Claude Shannon and John von Neumann and the ideas of the world famous Russian physiologist Ivan Pavlov.
