Educational aspect
According to the concept of communicative education intellectual development of students is one of the main tasks of teaching foreign language culture.
The course creates conditions for active "obtaining" information, allows each lesson to make informative, thanks to the large information saturation of the material.
The course provides for the development of speech abilities (phonemic hearing, imitation, guess); mental functions associated with speech activity (thinking, memory, attention, perception, imagination); the development of such traits as hard work, activity; the development of sustainable motivation for further study of a foreign language.
The main objective of the course is to foster a positive, respectful and tolerant attitude to the culture of another country.
Comparing their culture with the culture of another country, children learn to relate with understanding to the culture, mentality, customs of another country. They must come to the conclusion that the other is not bad.
When teaching a foreign language, not only the process of mastering is individual, but also the object of assimilation. In order for the student to be able to show their individuality in the course of the rule of redundancy of the material. The redundancy of the material allows students with a sufficiently high level of ability and motivation to go beyond the requirements of the basic course.
The leading type of speech activity of the elective course is reading.
Reading
In this course, reading acts as a learning goal and a means of obtaining information. In the field of reading, the task is to improve such types of reading as reading with selective extraction of the necessary information (reading for specific information) and reading with full understanding (reading for detail). Students are offered tests of scientific, journalistic, functional, country character.
The main form of reading is about yourself. Work continues to improve and develop the skills necessary to understand the reading at the level of contextual guesswork, self-education, international meaning of the word. The ability to use the dictionary is improved.
In terms of the formation of lexical reading skills, the task is to expand the receptive vocabulary. In terms of the formation of grammatical reading skills, the task is to increase the number of easily recognizable grammatical phenomena.
Audition
Listening acts as a learning goal. In this course there are three types of listening: with understanding (listening for detail), with understanding of the main information (listening for the main idea), in order to extract the necessary information (listening for specific information).
Tongues
Speech material for teaching speaking has the following goals: to acquaint students with new information about the life of the leading English-speaking countries (UK and USA), to repeat and systematize the lexical and grammatical means learned earlier.

Letter
In the field of writing there is a consolidation and improvement of previously acquired skills.

As a result of mastering the course content, students must demonstrate the following knowledge and skills:


* knowledge of geography, history, culture, traditions, national specifics of the studied country;
* knowledge of geographical, ethnographic, socio-political realities of the studied country;
* the ability to analyze this knowledge, compare and learn, associate with the word the same meaning as native speakers, correctly
* use country-specific vocabulary.
To determine the quality of knowledge in this course, the following forms of control and evaluation are provided.
