Life and living organisms (Book, p.10) When the definition of biology and information about its sub-branches are given, it is mentioned that biology is the science of living organisms and the interactions between them. However, the properties of living things and the differences between them haven*t been mentioned yet. Clarifying these things will help us to understand almost everything about the fundamentals of biology and living organisms much better. Organisms that have the properties of life are «Living Organisms». Some non-living things, like iron and stones, have some properties of life, such as atomic energy and mobility (at least at the atomic level). Viruses, that are crystals in isolation, show many life activities when they are with real living organisms. 22 Жизнь – это способ существования открытых систем, обладающих свойствами саморегуляции, воспроизведения и развития на основе биохимического взаимодействия белков, нуклеиновых кислот и других соединений вследствие преобразования веществ и энергии внешней среды. All these suggest that very clear differences between living and non-living forms can*t be demonstrated. However, beside this fact there are some certain characteristics of life, and members of the monera, protist, fungus, plant and animal kingdoms, that have these properties, are called living organisms.
