ECONOMY IN UZBEKISTAN
Annotation The article provides with the evaluation of the position of agriculture in the national
economy in Uzbekistan. Particularly, these countries are characterized by the provision of the basic
information, structure of the Land Fund, position of agriculture in the national economy of each
country.

Introduction The Republic of Uzbekistan is a country located in Central Asia a (Maps 1). Uzbekistan
borders in the north with Kazakhstan, in the east with the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan, and in
the south with Afghanistan and Turkmenistan The capital of Uzbekistan is Tashkent located in the
eastern part of the country The official language is Uzbek in Uzbekistan.
The total territory of Uzbekistan is nine times more than the territory of Slovakia. Similarly,
the population of Slovakia is less than six times of the residents of Uzbekistan. The population of
Uzbekistan has been gradually increasing. According to the number of population, Uzbekistan
takes the 43rd place in the world, 18th in Asia, and 3
rd
place in CIS, and 1
st
place in Central Asia
(Geography of Uzbekistan, 2014). The proportion of man and women to the total population is
similar in the country. The share of rural population is still high in these countries with rate of
more than 45 % to the total residents. The Uzbek currency is sum from 1994. In Uzbekistan resides
a representative of different nations.
For administrative purposes, the country is divided into 12 vilayats (regions) plus one
autonomous Republic Karakalpakstan in the far west of the country near the Aral Sea (Tab. 1).
