PREFACE
Currently, mechatronics is one of the most rapidly developing branches
of science and technology. Its achievements are widely used in various fields
of human activities:
robotics, manufacturing processes, medicine, space,
underwater, in the military and etc. An important
role in the development of
mechatronics in the world played the rapid progress in the field of informationl,
electronic and intelligent technologies and their applications to control of
functional movements. At the same time new principles and technologies of
manufacturing high-quality
and compact mechanical devices, electronic com-
ponents, motors, angular and linear motion were developed that formed the
basis of modern mechatronic modules.
The attention of scientists, designers, engineers is focused on the creation of
mechatronic modules that meet the modern requirements of quality, reliability
and security.
In the textbook the general concepts of mechatronics are widely represented
by different types of mechatronic modules and their
classification by types
and levels of integration, their structure is given and structural analysis
and
synthesis are presented, criteria for inclusion are developed and the
design principles of mechatronic modules and individual elements and their
components are setted out:
motion transducers, luftverbrauch mechanisms,
guides, brake and informational devices, and methodology of calculating the
accuracy of work as individual structural components and mechatronic module
as a whole is given.
The textbook
is intended for students, masters and postgraduates specia-
lizing in “mechatronics and robotics”, and can also be useful for students and
specialists in other technical areas involved in design of modules and machines
for computer-aided engineering. The authors express their gratitude to the
reviewers for their work in reviewing the manuscript and critical comments.
