SOCIAL IMITATION: ESSENCE AND PREREQUISITES OF ORIGIN Mukhamedzhanova Nuriya Mansurovna , Doctor in Culturology, Associate Professor Orenburg State University nuriyam@yandex.ru Relying on a critical analysis of social imitation conceptions, the article justifies the role of culture in the development of imitational phenomena, in particular, the phenomenon of imitational democracy. The author argues that asserting stable democracy in the socie- ty requires a sufficient basis, both material and spiritual. Introducing democratic institutions in the society lacking such a basis leads to destabilization of social life, revival of authoritarian tendencies and propagation of imitational phenomena and practices .
