Grain and milled rice quality, cooking properties. Grain is oblong. Caryopsis
length to breadth ratio (
l/b ): 2.5. 1000 grain weight: 29–31 g. Milled rice is white,
translucency: 98 %; total milled rice: 70–72 %; head rice: 85–90 %. Protein content:
7–8 %. The variety is recommended for cooking pilaf.
Tolerance to environmental stress factors. The variety is medium tolerant to
blast, tolerant to rice nematode. The blast tolerance may decrease in case of cultivation
technology violation (e.g.: increasing optimal nitrogen dose, etc). Novator is medium
tolerant to salinity, highly tolerant to lodging. At the seedling stage sprouts can easily
pull through the water layer.
Yield capacity. Yield potential is 8 t/ha.
