In 2009 the variety entered the State register of breeding
achievements eligible for use in the North Caucasus region.
Breeding method.
The variety was bred with the use of mass selection method
from variety Jupiter. The variety belongs to the mid-late-ripening group. Average growing
season lasts 120 days with fluctuations in duration from year to year (116–122 days).
Botanical and morphological characteristics.
Botanical variety:
var. italic
Alef. Plant height is 90–95 cm. Leaves are short, slightly hirsute, with the leaf angle
of 30–35°. Leaf coloration is green, mid-dense. Panicle is large with the length of
17–18 cm; 150–170 spikelets per panicle. Sterility is low: 3–8 %. Panicle is dense,
vertical, and slightly oblique when ripe.
