Subject and methods. Examinations were made in 174 pregnant women, including 35 patients
with varying preeclampsia at 34—37 weeks’ gestation, 109 pregnant women at high risk for preeclampsia who underwent an
observational cohort study from the end of the first trimester to labor; 60 of them received vitamin D and calcium preparations;
30 had calcium preparations only. A comparison group consisted of 30 women with physiological pregnancy. The examination
involved the determination of vitamin D, D-binding protein, the blood level of endothelin 1-38 by enzyme immunoassay, and that
of ionized calcium.
