Brief Job Description: The position is located within the Reliability Engineering Group and reports to the Instrumentation and Analyzer Reliability Group Supervisor. The duties of the position include Engineering support to ensure reliable operations of instrumentation withinTengizchevroil Operating Company. The Instrumentation Engineer will mentor and direct junior Engineers in the department. The Instrumentation Engineer works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Automation and other technical specialists to improve operational performance and solve problems related to a broad range of instumentation equipment including measuring devices, control & shutdown valves, fire & gas detection/alarm systems, vibration monitoring, anti-surge controls and control system interfaces. Instrumentation Engineer makes analysis of performace for Bad Actor instruments and related systems; prepares reports with recommendations for reliability improvements; develops the Action Items and tracks their implementation. Instrumentation Engineer participates in investigations as an expert in intstrumentation, performing data acquisition and analysis for RCA. Provides support to other Facilities Engineering grourps in selection of reliable Instrumentation and Control equipment. The engineer provides technical support to teams involved in design, construction and commissioning operations. The position may be also responsible for the review and development of operating and maintenance procedures that enhance the performance and reliability of equipment, and may be involved in providing training to improve the skills and knowledge of Operations and Maintenance personnel on equipment operation and maintenance. Job Specification and requirements: Required: Must be a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Higher technical degree in either Instrumentation, Automation, Process Control Systems, Chemistry (multi-year program). Experience in the area of Instrumentation in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry. 5+ years Good understanding of Explosion Protection Standards (IEC-Ex, PUE). Intermediate English language proficiency (TCO Level 3). Desirable: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop positive rapport within colleagues and across departments. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with engineers, operations and maintenance personnel and contractors. Ability to understand, respond to, and manage a variety of personnel issues in a culturally diverse atmosphere. Mentor skills - experience and ability to mentor and train junior engineers in Instrumentation concepts, applications, tools, monitoring and reliability programs. Familiarity with ISA and other applicable standards. Experience in instrumentation equipment, applications, troubleshooting, and associated systems such as control systems and automation. Experience related to operations at crude oil production facilities. Experience and knowledge of equipment specification, equipment operation and maintenance requirements, reliability and safe design. Knowledgeable of Company and industry standard codes and practices related to the engineering, design and construction of plant facilities, specific to instrumentation systems (and to lesser extent, control systems). Demonstrated ability to work relatively autonomously with general instructions and expectations but also highly effective in collaborating with Maintenance, Operations, Process, and other stakeholder groups. Process improvement experience and skills are deemed as critical to support the intended impact of this position. Instrumentation construction, commissioning and startup experience. Strong technical knowledge in measurement devices, control valves, Fire & Gas Systems, compressor anti-surge systems, instrument selection and installations.
