3.1.4 The Peculiarities and Formation of the Verbal Adjective
The verbal adjectives have several types, differing from each other in the way they are
formed, in verbal and nominal semantics, and in speech. In the modern Kyrgyz language, there
are 4 types of affixes which form the verbal adjective: -
ган, -ар / бас, -оочу / -уучу, -чу
; (-gan,-
ar,-bas,-oochu,-uuchu,-chu) for complex verbal adjective: -
a / -й элек (-a,/-y elek).
From the stem of the verb, with the help of the affix –
ган/gan (- ген/gen, -гон/gon, -
гѳн/gön, -кан/kan, -кен/ken, -кон/kon, -кѳн/kön),
the verbal adjective is formed:
-
келген киши
[kelgen kıshı]
“arrived person”, алынган китеп
[alıngan kıtep]
“taken
book ", ачылган гʏл
[achılgan gül]
"a blossoming flower.”
The negative form is formed with the help of the negative affix -ба:
-
келбеген киши
[kelbegen kıshı]
"not arrived person", окулбаган китеп
[okulbagan
kıtep]
"unread book", ачылбаган гʏл
[achılbagan gül]
"unblown flower".
The ascription of the affix -
ган
to the past tense can be conditional, since depending on the
context, the temporal meaning of this form may change.
Verbal adjective for
–ган
referring to the past tense, serves as a modifier and conveys the
verbal attribute of an object as a temporary characteristics associated with an action already
completed before the moment of speech, the result of which is obvious:
-
