NOTE:
After a number of verbs
and verb-groups both the Gerund
and the Infinitive may be used:
to try, to regret, to hate, to intend, to begin,
to continue, to like (to dislike), to propose, to remember, to forget, to stop,
to mean, to be afraid of.
The Gerund renders some general statement
while the Infinitive is mostly used with reference to a special occasion.
I meant
to call
you when at home.
Я намеревался
позвонить
тебе, когда буду дома.
Getting this job would mean
getting up
early.
Если согласиться на эту работу, придется
вставать
рано.
