The position of agriculture
2
in Uzbekistan is much more significant in terms of the share
of GDP, number of employees and number of economic subjects. The share of agriculture to the
Gross Domestic Product of the economy of Uzbekistan is still high about 17, 5 %, despite the fact
that it has been decreasing annually and since 1991 its share has dropped by 20 %. However, the
number of registered enterprises in the primary sector increased from 2000 to 2012 at the rate of
9.3 % to 21.3% (Almanac “Uzbekistan 2013”). Furthermore, almost
one third of the total
population (27%) is employed in agricultural activities (Fig. 12). From these above-mentioned
reasons, it can be seen that the role of agriculture in Uzbekistan is still vital.
Conclusion
The position of agriculture still plays a vital role in the national economy of Uzbekistan
Republic. Because the share of employment provides 27 %, the registered entreprises represents
21%. Therefore the development of agriculture is very important .
