LINGVOCULTURAL PECULIARITIES OF NATIONAL MENTALITY REFLECTION IN
THE M.AUEZOV'S NOVEL "ABAI'S WAY"
Abstact. The purpose of the article is to develop learner's appreciation of great Kazakh literature. The
material gathered forthis purpose consisted of one Kazakh-Russian English realities dictionary. The realities
were selected among those originally produced in Kazakh and translated into Russian, afterwards from
Russian into English. In order to have a contrastive analysis of realities and their translations, the dialogues
in the novel were contrasted. At the first stage, realities were defined and with the definition in mind, they were
identified in the dictionary. After determining realities in the novel, the translations of the realities needed to
be identified and matched with the original ones. To this aim, the original realities and their Russian
translations were compared and contrasted in order to track down the translations of the identified realities.
Afterwards, the realities and their translations were listed in tables to investigate the most and the least
frequent approaches and strategies employed by Russian and Kazakh interpreters in dealing withrealities.
