Narxoz Student Research-2021
To refl ect the infl uence of age, both the age and age squared
specifi cations and the age groups specifi cations were considered. Thus,
seven systems of binary equations and seven ordinary binary equations
were estimated separately for men and women. The hypothesis that
models for men and women could be merged into one model with the
dummy gender variable, taking a value of 1 for men and 0 for women,
was tested with the LR test (likelihood ratio) and was rejected at the
signifi cance level α = 0.01.
Findings
In this paper were analyzed factors that impact the public’s attitude
towards smoking ban in public places. The survey showed results that
most of Kazakhstan’s population understand the need of implementing
a tobacco ban. Even the least signifi cant one (smoking ban in bars and
restaurants) were positively met by more than half of the interviewed.
From our point of view, econometric analysis type of approach
gives an opportunity to distinctly highlight every factor separately. It
was founded that individuals can react to smoking ban in public places
in diff erent ways. That is why it was more appropriate to perform
evaluation of factors separately. In the survey were allocated categories
– “active visitors” of public places, individuals that visit them often
against those who do not visit certain public places.
The analysis showed that the possibility of public’s support towards
smoking ban in diff erent public places depends on diff erent factors.
Even though smoker’s status has the biggest impact in the formation of
attitude towards smoking ban among men and women, some equations
showcase that other factors have the same (if not bigger) impact in the
issue. Factors that characterize health’s state have a great signifi cance
among men (see table 1):
State of income has diff erent kinds of signifi cance among men and
women, it also depends on the type of ban.
Some of the fi ndings concerning the category of “active visitors”
have to do with student participants. Female and male students that
smoke had negative response towards smoking ban in campuses. It
was also noticed that men and women that actively do sports support
smoking bans in sport facilities.
Having children does not play signifi cant impact on the attitude
towards smoking ban in public places for men and women. It possibly
