Key words: phraseology, meaning, dictionary, idiom, keyword, origin, structure. Traditionally, English phraseological units are classified according to their meaning,
origin and structure.
One form of semantic classification of phraseological units is the grouping of idioms
according to the concepts they represent. Many foreign linguists face this category. For example,
J.L. A pperson can describe the moon, the seasons, the sun, the sky, the sun, the rain, the wind,
the animals, and so on. The distinguished phraseological units that refer to concepts. Such a
classification is unacceptable as it is based on non-linguistic criteria [1, 80].
V.Vinogradov classification divides phraseological units into phraseological units,
phraseological units and combinations of idioms.
Phrases and phraseological units - unmotivated units that function as word equivalents,
e.g. B. Poor skis, deck logs, cranberry fruit and so on.
1. Phraseological units - motor units with a single complex meaning, formed by
combining the meanings of lexical components. The editorial units allow the elements to be
separated from each other with substitute "packaging materials" and to perform possible word-
equivalent functions, such as: B. hoһlding a stone on the chest, with a flat face, picking up the
first pancake and swimming upstream.
2. Vocabulary combinations - one of its components is a turn related to the meaning of
the idiom, which manifests itself only in relation to the definition of a strictly defined context
and their verbal notation. Meanwhile, V.Vinogradov stressed that there is no reason for such a
restriction, as there is no basis for the logical and material nature of the objects, actions and
phenomena that are identified.
These restrictions arise from laws that connect the meanings of words in a particular
language. Such combinations are not synonymous, since each of their components has a different
meaning, for example, fear, desire, jealousy, laughter, etc. But it is impossible to say: it takes
pleasure, it takes pleasure and so on.
