Deductions on Chapter 3.
Within the frameworks of representation and description of verbal adjectives, i.e. Atoochtuk, the
following results have been obtained from Chapter 3:
Verbal Adjective is an important grammar phenomenon which carries out compensative,
additional and duplicating functions concerning verbs and nouns;
Verbal Adjectives create ‘substantivized verbs’, making verbs more statical and ‘action
nouns’, making them more dynamic;
Verbal Adjectives function as necessary constituents for creating verb categories as
aspects, voice and subordinate clauses in the sentences;
Verbal Adjectives widen the range of using Verbal Adjectives, giving them an ‘action
effect’;
The term ‘non-finite form of verb’ is not suitable for Verbal Adjectives that consist of
both morphological and syntactic characteristics of verbs and nouns;
Verbal Adjectives have forms, meanings (aspect, voice, tense, case, number) and
functions (subject, predicate, attribute, object) and they have necessary features to be
included into part of speech range as an independent part of speech on its own.
