SYNTHESIS OF POLYMER-METAL COMPLEX BASED ON COPPER( II) NITRATE AND POLYVINYL ALCOHOL Dyussenkulova B.Zh., Maksotova K.S., Bakirova B.S.,Tasbolatova N.A. nonmetal atoms or group of atoms around it, called ligands. They poses a huge variety of
application in fields of chemistry, chemical industry and technology, such as metallurgy, catalysis,
etc.
In this work the formation process of polymer-metal complex compound by mixing copper(II)
nitrate with
polyvinyl alcohol was investigated. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a water soluble
synthetic plastic polymer, which has a property of self-cross-linking, biodegradability,
biocompatibility and does not have a negative environmental effect, that makes it eco-friendly.
Copper nitrate is a a blue crystalline inorganic substance, that refers to salts of copper and nitric
acid. It easily absorbs moisture from the air and dissolves in water.It is an ideal reagent due to its
commercial availability and stability.
The composition of PVA-Cu
2+
complex was determined by conductometric and pH-metric
titration. According to the results from conductometric studies, it can be argued that the
complexation process is accompanied by an increase in the electrical conductivity of the system at
the ratios PVA:Cu
2+
=1:1 mol:mol. Data obtained from pH-metric titration shows that the optimal
molar ratio of the reacting components is PVA/Cu
2+
= 1/1 mol/mol. It means that one central copper
ion bonds with one mono-link of polymer ligand.Then the complex compound films were analysed
by isomolar series methods (UV-Vis).
Obtained PVA-Cu
2+
complex compound will be applied for synthesis of copper nanoparticles
with use of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a stabiliser and reducing agent.
